Ascension Bay Fly Fishing Program
Fisherman Lodge fishes with two guides in every boat. This means that each angler will have individual attention from an accomplished guide in how to effectively fish the Bay. Many anglers like to wade for bonefish and permit with one guide while the other angler and guide target tarpon and snook from the boat. Our guides know the area intimately and have been guiding anglers for over fifteen years. They are polite, friendly and speak excellent English. They are epic casters and have a love of teaching and sharing information.
As a bonus, you have Capt. Greg Rahe; Partner and Director of Fishing at Fisherman Lodge. Capt. Greg was a full time Florida Keys fly fishing guide for 18 years. He has called Punta Allen home for the last 11 years. He is certified casting instructor and lifetime member of the Fly Fishers International. He is always available and willing to help saltwater first timers, or expand an experienced casters horizon.
Fisherman Lodge uses traditional Mexican Panga boats with comfortable seats, poling platforms, secure rod storage, and an ample front casting deck. All pangas use water proof UHF radios (that get updates on weather and communicate with home base, guides can communicate when separated during wade fishing), life vests and have first aid kits on board.
Fishing Days start with coffee at 6:00am, followed by a hearty breakfast at 7:00am. Whenever you are ready to go fishing after breakfast, we will be ready. There is no due date on when you need to return to the lodge. The only caveat is be back for our dinner service! We have a hosted happy hour starting at 4:30pm followed with appitizers at 6:oopm and a full dinner service at 7:oopm. Sleep, eat, fish, and repeat!
